A Mindful Heart
They say that each heart is endowed with a mind, And the bundles of nerves think up thoughts to no end. Now there once was a heart that was loving and kind, And regarded its host as a father and friend. Though the host loved his consort, he hated his heart; And he could not love life howsoever he tried. So he blew out his brains. But then woke with a start, For he heard his heart weeping the moment he died. Then his heart found a new host who knew only hope. And the EKG beeped; and the man woke to life. And thru the eartips of the doc’s stethoscope, The heart said “He loved you” to the former host’s wife.
