Thank you again for the vote of confidence. I lost over 8 subscribers within 24 hours of posting this, which surprised. But I’m not wanting to portray characters in the 1960s (especially with the backgrounds they have) who would go about their business in the scenes as if they had been born circa 1995.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that, but sadly not surprised. Your characters feel very authentic to me, which is what I always thought historical fiction was supposed to do: try to make the past present for the reader. The new requirement seems to be revising the past to comfort the reader. That just doesn't have the same appeal for me, maybe because I'm an adult and stopped needing comforting stories when I was five.
