Brilliantly done again, Daniel. Melchior might be a monster but he seems to have unleashed something even worse on the world
Interestingly on Narcissus, we actually have a print of the Caravaggio painting in our living room. Always been one of our favourites. Don’t know what that says about us! 🤔😁
I love that Caravaggio painting! There is something about his play of light and dark, the chiaroscuro, that is so bewitching. I spent a week in Naples a few years back, which was one of the cities he spent a lot of time in near the end of his life. I just love the shabby haphazard vibe of that town, and there were a few glimpses I caught of the people going about their lives while I was there that made me think that only someone like Caravaggio could have done justice to the scene. I think the cutest thing was a father who drove his vespa to where his wife was running a pizza stand. He shouted, “Ragazzi!” And his three little sons all ran to the vespa, jumped on the running board, and held onto his jacket, as he blew his wife a kiss and drove off with them.
So, we flew into Napoli a few years back when we were exploring the Amalfi Coast and had planned to travel into the city on our last few days. Unfortunately my son caught chicken pox and so we never made it but I’d love to go back. Those are the kinds of cities I like to explore and the father on his Vespa piling all the kids on sounds absolutely brilliant 😁
Well Daniel, the story is starting really to take shape by the threads being woven together like a tapestry. Poor Melchior caught in his own self righteous trap is facing his doom it seems. But his son is now loose upon the world! A terrible prospect that we have already been witness to I think.

And thank you again, as always, for your encouraging remarks. 🙏

Thank you again, Frank for finding the time to read this story and leave this wonderful comment. A lot will be happening in the subsequent chapter!
