Thank you, Daniel. It’s a pleasure to find a sympathetic reader whose ideas of what constitutes genuine horror seems to align very much with my own. I’m not a fan of gore. It has its place, but I’m more attracted to those unsettling tales of the Victorians and Edwardians in which much of the violence is implied. That way when it does appear, it’s so much more jolting and unsettling.
This chapter is particularly chilling. I don’t know how you do it, but it feels as though it was written alongside Stoker. It feels old in the best way possible.
My new favorite part of the day is reading these chapters before going to bed. I usually fall asleep reading but this kept my interest throughout. Great job 👏
